Tears of Prayer

Privacy Policy

This is an English reference translation. If it differs from the Korean original, the Korean original prevails. Tears of Prayer (the "App") complies with the Personal Information Protection Act of Korea and related laws, and explains below what personal information it processes, why, and how. Your prayer records are stored only on your phone, and our server does not store what you pray. The only exception is a prayer request you post yourself in "Pray together", which is kept on the server so other users can see it (sections 1 and 3).

1. Personal information we process

When you log in: the member ID given by the company you log in with (Kakao, Naver, Google, or Apple on iPhone). If you log in with email, that email address.

Additional information (once, after you log in): email address (required, confirmed with a 6-digit code), confirmation that you are 16 or older (required), how you heard about us (optional), and whether and when you agreed to receive news (optional). The email confirmation code is kept only as an irreversible value (hash) for 10 minutes.

When you top up: product, amount, payment time, and the payment company's transaction number. The App never receives card numbers or other payment-method details.

Usage time: time remaining and time used (in seconds). It contains nothing of what you pray.

Prayer recordings and text: only when "Encouragement & verse" is on, your prayer is sent through our server to our processors (sections 4 and 5) to turn it into text and summarize it. Our server does not store it after processing.

Sensitive information: prayer recordings and text may include sensitive information such as religious beliefs or health. Before your first prayer we ask for your consent to process sensitive information, separately from other consents, and on the same screen we ask you to confirm that you are 16 or older. You may refuse; if you do, you cannot record or summarize prayers, but you can still use the other features.

Pray together (logged-in users only): prayer requests you post (up to 200 characters) with their language, category and posting time; how many people prayed and the short words they chose; the reply the poster left; reports and hides; and in-app news. Prayer requests are shown to other users without any name or nickname. Recordings and text when you pray for someone are handled as above and not stored.

Referrals (logged-in users only): your referral code, who entered whose referral code and when, and whether a referral reward was given. If you install the App from a referral link on Google Play, the App reads only the referral code from Google Play's install information (Install Referrer).

Device information: to prevent abuse (such as taking the free trial many times on the same phone), the device ID your phone gives this App (stored on the server only as an irreversible value, a hash), and error logs (without what you pray).

Connection address (IP): to count how many free trials and referral rewards were given per day, we keep only an irreversible value (hash) and daily counts.

Push notifications (if you allow them): the address for sending notifications to your phone (push token), device type (Android or iPhone), app language, time zone, which notifications you chose (announcements, Pray together news), and your account number if you are logged in.

Bible video reports: the ID of the reported video and the time, and an irreversible value (hash) of who reported it (account or device) to count reports per day. Deleted after 1 year.

Reporting AI-written text: when you tell us that the encouragement or verse note written by AI in a prayer result is inappropriate, the reason you chose, the app language, which screen, the verse IDs and themes, the AI model in use, the app version, the time, and an irreversible value (hash) of who reported it (account or device) to count reports per day. Only if you turn on "Also send the AI text" do we also receive that AI text (it may contain names from your prayer). We do not receive your prayer recording or prayer text.

2. Why we process it

To confirm members (email confirmation and email login); to send important notices (such as changes to the terms) and answer your questions; to send news about new features if you agreed (this may include promotional information, and you can turn it off at any time); to decide how to promote the App using only totals of how people heard about us, without identifying anyone; to turn prayers into text and choose encouragement and Bible verses; to manage usage time, top-ups and refunds; to provide Pray together (showing and translating requests, filtering personal information and inappropriate posts, handling reports, news); to prevent abuse; and to answer inquiries.

3. How long we keep it

Account information: until you delete your account. Additional information (email address, age confirmation, how you heard about us, news consent) is deleted together with the account. If you turn off news, the consent date is deleted.

Even after an account is deleted, we keep only an irreversible value (hash) of the login company and member ID, to stop the same account from signing up again for another free trial. This value cannot identify you.

To stop the same phone from taking the free trial again, we keep an irreversible value (hash) of the device ID and a mark that the phone has used the free trial. This is not deleted when you delete your account, and it cannot identify you by itself.

Pray together requests: shown for 30 days after posting, then closed automatically. 30 days after being closed or taken down by reports, they are deleted together with their translations, reports and news. If you delete your account, they are deleted immediately. The number of people who prayed is kept with the link to any person removed.

Referral records: when you delete your account, your referral code is deleted. Records of referral relations with other users are kept with account numbers only, to stop rewards from being taken again with the same phone or account; these numbers alone cannot identify anyone.

Push addresses: deleted when you turn notifications off or the address can no longer be used (for example after you remove the App). Deleting your account deletes its addresses immediately.

Reports of AI-written text: any AI text you chose to send is deleted after 90 days, and the rest of the record after 1 year.

Payment and refund records: 5 years, as required by the Korean Act on Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce.

Prayer recordings and text: not stored on our server (for our processors' retention, see section 5).

Prayer records on your phone: kept only on your phone until you delete them (Settings > Delete all prayer records). Records of a logged-in account are hidden (not deleted) when you log out and shown again when you log in with the same account. When you delete your account, that account's records on the phone are deleted too.

8. Your rights

You can ask to access, correct, delete, or stop processing your personal information. You can delete your account or erase all records on your phone in the App's settings.

If you have removed the App or cannot use it, you can request account deletion at beyondspark.cio@gmail.com. See https://tearsofprayer.com/delete-account/ for how.

All communication is encrypted (https). Prayer records on your phone are stored encrypted. Server access rights and secret keys are kept to a minimum and separated.

11. People under 16

People under 16 cannot use this app. We ask you to confirm that you are 16 or older before your first prayer and again in the additional information after logging in (we do not collect your date of birth).
